Ever since college, I've been appalled to learn that many of the things we were taught in elementary and even high school were miserably wrong (I most remember that teacher who told us that 'incumbent' is derived from 'income.'). I've been a staunch supporter of Antonio Calipjo Go who has been raising awareness on the poor quality of our country's textbooks, and I'm rather disgusted to read about this, too.
Plants cannot move, but their seeds can move from one place to another. Some seeds are blown by the wind while others are carried by water from the rain. Some seeds stick to the fur of animals or on people’s clothes. That is how they move from place to place. Whenever seeds fall on fertile ground, they grow into new plants and propagate.Funny enough, I remember reading something like that back in elementary school, too.

hmm... that passage seems technically incorrect, but i suppose it was just badly phrased? i think i see the sense in it, it's really not... unforgivably wrong, is it?
(help me, i'm clueless)
also, i've been participating in a small discussion about english in our textbooks here, you might be interested?

More the wording, actually. It's interesting to see that it's still written like that, because I remember it being written that way since elementary. I'll check out the discussion, thanks!
