Ah yes

Manny Pacquiao won yesterday. Whoop dee doo. Just to be contrary, I didn't watch it, and was frankly disappointed to hear that Barrera lost. Not that I'm a motherland-hating twit. It's just that I feel sorry for those against whom the deck is stacked, plus I've long ago decided that I really dislike how the entire country is seemingly pinning its hope for fame and salvation on Pacquiao. The dude won. Yay, it's great news, we're proud of him. But he's just one person, and we should all be building up ourselves to be the kind of people we can be proud of in every way, and not just as boxers or whatever.

(I'm a fine one to talk, I'm the one mostly sitting on my ass all day and griping about the world without lifting a finger to change it.)

I heard Kyla did a fine job of singing the national anthem. Good on her. It's really annoying to hear singers butchering the fine song and treating it like some melodramatic ballad. It's the national anthem--you sing it with raging fire in your heart! Plus, it's a damn march.
