More TV fun

Batang X is on Cinema One right now and thanks to TJ, I caught around 30 minutes of it till it got too painful to watch. I remember there was a lot of excitement surrounding its release ages ago, with people being so proud that the effects are top notch. So funny. I believe it may have been released the same year as Baby Love with Anna Larrucea and Jason Salcedo (I rented the VHS from ACA Video).

The few scenes I caught from Batang X made me laugh out loud, such as the fierce way the kids' powers were tested in a seedy-looking room, their heartfelt screaming as they were made to undergo these tests, Aiko Melendez sprawled on her table of evil plans while Michael de Mesa--in a pale imitation of Doc Emmett Brown--chewed her out for using the kids for her own selfish reasons, the pillow fight among the kids (complete with flying feathers), and that incredible sequence with them putting on their colorful gear with the Batang X theme song (Batang X! Batang X! Batang batang batang batang batang X!!! Deep, man.) playing in the background. I got as far as the scene which had them sneaking into a building to get some power source till I lost interest. Anyone care to tell me how it ends?

I then gave it up in favor of a soap opera on TVE called La Viuda de Blanco and a show on KBS World which briefly featured a girl named Kim Miseon who could mimic the voices of 50 celebrities. Much more entertaining.
