Election day is almost here

Is it such a terrible thing if I say that I am in no mood to vote? Oh yeah, not too long ago, I was thrilled about exercising my right to vote. Now it just seems like a futile exercise to me. Studio 23 has an ad going right now which attempts to appeal to a certain group of people, the one saying "If you don't vote, our roads may not get fixed." I have news for you people. Even if we do vote, those roads won't get fixed either. Ah, there'll be construction work, of course, and you'll see perfectly good and non-bumpy streets being torn up for a long time, which will result in extended travel time thanks to the traffic jam and confusion they cause.

My mother and I have been talking about the elections lately, and she's saying it's impossible to vote for all the candidates of a particular party. Gods forbid that should happen. If I vote for Team Gloria Unity, that means I'll have to vote for the likes of Tessie Aquino-Oreta, Edgardo Angara, and Mike Defensor, who I wish UP History majors and graduates all over would shun. I would sooner slice my hand off than do that. If I vote for the so-called Genuine Opposition, then that would include Loren Legarda-Leviste, and the very thought of her back in the Senate would reduce me to bitter tears. Hah, not really, but that would give me a little extra something to roll my eyes about.

Despite my griping, however, I still retain some morbid curiosity about what will happen, and just to show willing, I will still indeed drag myself to the polls next week. Oh boy. Oh joy.
