I was just reading about how Manny Pacquiao appears to be losing to Darlene Custodio and the word 'incumbent' reminded me of one class in my freshman year in high school when the social studies teacher told us that where the word 'incumbent' comes from.

"Anong ibig sabihin ng incumbent, class? Incumbent! Galing sa word na income! Datung!" (What does incumbent mean, class? Incumbent! It comes from the word 'income'! Moolah!)
