End Women's Suffrage...

...is the title of a video I just saw a couple of minutes ago. There's this guy going around in some school with a petition in hand and trying to get young female students to sign it. The petition was for, that's right, ending women's suffrage. And the sad thing is many of the girls shown on the video actually signed the damn thing.

Now a few years ago perhaps, I would've railed and foamed at the mouth at such a video that's trying to show how stupid women are, etc. etc. But right now, I'm just concerned that at that age, those people don't know what "suffrage" means. I'm fairly sure some of them thought it was a petition to end women's suffering. Some people gave the explanation that those girls are pre-teens or teenagers and probably haven't encountered that in their studies yet (I must add smugly however that I learned of the term in sixth grade). Do I blame young people nowadays for turning their attention to shallow superficial matters instead of improving their minds? Do I blame the educational system for failing to teach young people these things? Do I blame the word "suffrage" which a lot of people don't really use anymore?

What's even more disturbing, however, are the comments left by the people who viewed the video. You know, the usual women-are-stupid-that's-why-they-weren't-allowed-to-vote-in-the-first-place kind of comments? It's funny how many of them pounced gleefully on this video, like they're so eager for proof of women's alleged stupidity.
